We often shopped at Ellis’ supermarket in the 60s, there was a great little Chinese takeaway in Hemming Street also - you took your own saucepan in, and they would fill it to your requirements. Aaah, no plastic takeaway cartons back then.

Back in the 1950s the McKenry family lived in the right-hand corner house with the white fence and Mrs. Wheelhouse my grade 3 teacher lived opposite also on the right. I also remember Ellis’s grocery and taking a saucepan for the Chinese takeaway. No disposable containers back then. Great times!
